- —Wizpig, Diddy Kong Racing
Wizpig is a giant alien pig who acts as the main antagonist of Diddy Kong Racing and its Nintendo DS remake Diddy Kong Racing DS. His name is a portmanteau of "wizard" and "pig."
History
Background
All that is known of Wizpig's past is that he decided to attempt to conquer his own planet out of boredom. He succeeded, and transformed his homeworld into a high-tech amusement park called Future Fun Land. Eventually, Wizpig once again grew bored, and decided to leave his planet to look for excitement on other inhabited worlds. One of the thrills Wizpig discovered was the sport of racing. This sport eventually became Wizpig's favorite thing to do, along with causing chaos, and led to the events of him invading Timber's Island.[2]
Diddy Kong Racing
In Diddy Kong Racing, prior to the game's events, Wizpig took over Timber's Island. In doing so, Wizpig usurped Taj of his power, turned Drumstick into a frog when he tried to challenge Wizpig, and hypnotized the island's four guardians, Tricky, Bluey, Bubbler, and Smokey. As such, Timber wrote a letter to Diddy Kong begging for his help in saving the island from Wizpig and banishing him, with some of their other friends deciding to join them in their journey.
Some time after hypnotizing the guardians, Wizpig handed out a piece of the Wizpig Amulet to each of them. There is a large rock formation of Wizpig's head in the central area of Timber's Island. Each time the racers collect a piece of the Wizpig Amulet, a quarter of the Wizpig head comes to life. Once all four parts of the Wizpig Amulet have been collected, the Wizpig head opens its mouth, revealing a tunnel that leads to the first boss race against Wizpig, Wizpig's First Strike. Aside from the Wizpig Amulet, the Gold Trophies are also made in the likeness of Wizpig, and it specifically shows him standing on a podium numbered 1 (as it is the first place trophy).
In a part of Haunted Woods, there are some ghost entities shaped like Wizpig's head, although they are only an environmental feature and do not have any effect on the gameplay.
In Wizpig's First Strike, like the other bosses, Wizpig does not use any vehicles during the race. Instead, he moves by foot, on a straightforward path to the finish line, whereas the racer uses a car. If Wizpig runs over the racer, they are temporarily flattened. Upon losing the race, Wizpig teleports away. With Wizpig seemingly defeated, the characters decide to throw a party in the beach area of Timber's Island. As they are partying, Wizpig peeks out from behind the lighthouse. Wizpig runs into view, scaring the others and ending the party. Wizpig apologizes for crashing the party and says he had to say goodbye to them. He then retreats into his spaceship, somehow shrinking while rising up into the spaceship, and leaves for his home planet, Future Fun Land.
Later, at the end of Future Fun Land, the player's racer can race against Wizpig again in Wizpig Strikes Back, accessed through a giant door depicting the entire front of Wizpig's body. In this race, the player's character rides in a plane whereas Wizpig rides on a missile-like rocket. When they win against Wizpig, his rocket starts to malfunction, and he blasts off into space and lands into a purple planet.
Diddy Kong Racing DS
In Diddy Kong Racing DS, Wizpig is the main antagonist like in the original version. He first appears in the remake-exclusive introduction cutscene, chasing Timber, Pipsy, Bumper, and Tiptup down a narrow path of a jungle area. The four of them jump over a log, but Wizpig accidentally trips on it, causing him to front-flip and land on his back. As this occurs, Wizpig threatens to smash the characters into "fish food." Timber sends Diddy a letter to notify him that Wizpig has taken control of the island and that he needs Diddy's help. When Diddy, Dixie, and Tiny make their arrival, Pipsy confidently says that Wizpig needs to watch out because the Kongs have joined them.
The cutscene for when Wizpig loses in Wizpig Strikes Back was made shorter, as it only shows the part where he blasts off into outer space, headed toward a planet, which was made more pink in color and is no longer shown close up. Wizpig was also given unique speech where he simply vows to return.
Aside from being the main antagonist, Wizpig was also made an unlockable playable character, along with Taj, and can be unlocked by completing Adventure Mode 2. Like the other characters, Wizpig gives a unique quote upon being selected, although Wizpig's voice acting from the original version was not carried over. Wizpig's playable counterpart is significantly smaller, allowing him to fit into the vehicle he is driving. Wizpig's stats are identical to Taj's, as both characters have very high speed but very low acceleration and handling.
Mario no Bōken Land
Wizpig appears as the main villain of the Diddy Kong Racing story segment of Mario no Bōken Land, titled "Go Go Diddy!". He attacks Taj during a race, ripping up the carpet he was riding, which strips Taj of his magical powers, before escaping. Mario, Princess Peach and Diddy Kong ride on airplanes to follow Wizpig, but he launches a bomb which hits Mario and Peach. Diddy Kong avoids the attack, and Wizpig follows it up with a missile, which he also avoids. Diddy manages to bury Wizpig under a pile of rocks, trapping him underneath. While Diddy Kong and his friends celebrate Wizpig's defeat, the last panel shows Taj offering to help Wizpig out of the rocks if he promises to not do any more bad actions.
4-koma Gag Battle
Wizpig appears throughout the 4-koma Gag Battle manga adaptation of Diddy Kong Racing.

Other appearances
In the 2001 version of Diddy Kong Pilot, while Wizpig does not appear, the artwork of him chasing Diddy in the central area of Timber's Island is faintly visible as one of the photographs on the desk in the Story mode selection screen.
Wizpig would have likely appeared as the main villain in Donkey Kong Racing, something that was suggested in a Rare Scribes on September 3, 2001.[3]
In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Wizpig is briefly mentioned by Banjo in LOGBOX 720. Here, he says to Kazooie that he was "in a similar situation once before, along time ago, with a genie and a giant pig."
