Humba Wumba is an American Indian shaman and rival of Mumbo Jumbo in the Banjo-Kazooie franchise. Her first appearance is in Banjo-Tooie.
History
In Banjo-Tooie, Humba Wumba took over Mumbo Jumbo's role from the first Banjo-Kazooie: transforming Banjo and Kazooie into various creatures and objects to complete various tasks. She was given this role due to Mumbo Jumbo becoming a playable character instead. Humba Wumba is found in a Wumba's Wigwam in every level except Cauldron Keep. In the first level, Mayahem Temple, Humba Wumba introduces herself as the "greatest shaman in all game." Banjo mentions that he and Kazooie have heard that Mumbo was the best, a claim which Humba vehemently opposed. Humba Wumba uses a pink magic pool to transform Banjo and Kazooie unlike Mumbo, who instead used his magic wand in Banjo-Kazooie.
Throughout the different levels in the game, Wumba turns Banjo and Kazooie into the following:
- Stony (Mayahem Temple)
- Detonator (Glitter Gulch Mine)
- Van (Witchyworld)
- Submarine (Jolly Roger's Lagoon)
- Baby and Daddy T-Rex (Terrydactyland)
- Washing Machine (Grunty Industries)
- Snowball (Hailfire Peaks)
- Bee (Cloud Cuckooland)
In the Isle O' Hags, Humba Wumba can transform Kazooie alone into a Dragon if she is given a Mega-Glowbo.
She also appears at the celebration party for Banjo and Kazooie at the end of the game. She is one of the few characters who arrived late to the party, the others being Banjo, Kazooie, Mumbo, and Jamjars. When Mumbo claims it was Humba's fault, she threatens to turn Mumbo into a frog. The end of the game shows Humba, Mumbo, Jamjars, Banjo and Kazooie playing a game of kickball with Gruntilda's disembodied head.
In Banjo-Pilot, Humba Wumba is an unlockable racer who can be unlocked by clearing the Jiggy Cup and giving 100 Cheato Pages to Cheato.
In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Humba Wumba runs a small shop in Showdown Town. She does not make any use of magic, and instead sells a variety of blueprints for different vehicles.
Physical appearance
Humba Wumba has long dark hair, a native headdress, and, in Banjo-Tooie, wears a seemingly primitive dress. In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Humba Wumba was redesigned to resemble a cowgirl, having tight yellow shorts and a red top, while retaining some of her American Indian features, especially her headdress.
